"The goodness of analog and the goodness of digital"

Hello.
This is Aoyagi.

I will be 38 years old this year.

Nowadays, it's commonplace to use the internet on an iPhone to find out all kinds of information, listen to music, and take photos, and it really makes me realize how convenient the world is.

I feel nostalgic about the time when I was in high school, when there were no iPhones and I would listen to music on a CD Walkman when I went out.

FOMA and MOVA were the mainstream mobile phones at the time.

The internet was also pay-per-use, so if I used it without thinking, it could add up to a lot of money (laughs).

*After some research, I found out that the iPhone was born in 2007.

As digital technology has developed, lifestyles have changed dramatically, but I believe the unchanging goodness of analog remains.

It's not a question of which is better, but rather that each has its own merits and there is a way to enjoy them that suits your lifestyle.

For example, I personally enjoy using different words.

Music
: Records and Streaming

・Reading : Paper and digital books

is.

Music: Records vs. Streaming

I listen to music through records at home and streaming when I'm on the go or at work.

The appeal of records is the joy of owning them and the quality of the sound.

He picks up a large jacket and drops the needle.

The slow movements create a special moment of "listening to music."

The warm sound and scratch noise that are unique to analog are also appealing features that streaming music cannot offer.

Streaming, on the other hand, is overwhelmingly more convenient.

You can listen to millions of songs on your smartphone and instantly hear the latest music.

Create a playlist to enjoy your favorite songs without interruption.

The difference between books and Kindle

With paper books, the feeling of turning the pages is very satisfying.

With each page you turn you feel like you are progressing, which helps to improve your concentration.

I then put sticky notes on pages that interest me and underline words that interest me, so I can look back on them whenever I want.

Paper books have a similar feel to records, but they also have the joy of owning them.

On the other hand, the biggest advantage of digital books (such as Kindle) is their convenience.

You can read them quickly on the train or in your spare time, and you can carry several books with you at once.

It's also convenient to read in the dark.

The happiness of being able to choose either

Both analog and digital have their merits, and I believe that by using them appropriately, we can enjoy the world more efficiently.

The important thing is to find the style that works best for you.

I know I should mention this at the end, but you can use them anytime, anywhere and enjoy them all the time, so I recommend taking a break from both and meditating sometimes. (laughs)
