"Life's Lies"
Hello.
Aoyagi here.
The title may be heavy, but the article itself is light and can be read in about 3 minutes.
This week, I wrote about Adler's concept of "life lies," which I particularly like.
Please read on.
You say you want to lose weight, but you keep eating.
You say you want to wake up early, but you sleep until the last minute.
You want to change, but your actions don't.
"Eating until I'm full is 'happier' than trying to lose weight by restricting foods I love."
What we say and what we truly think deep down can be different.
Adler, whose ideas I admire, described such instances as "life lies."
"Because I lack talent."
"Because it's impossible in my current environment."
"Because I'm busy with work."
"Because my parents told me so."
"Because it's already decided."
If you keep saying these things, you'll likely never truly achieve what you want.
It's said that people tend to choose security over potential gain.
Even if that choice will ultimately cause them suffering in the long run, they opt for immediate comfort.
Life lies are lies we tell ourselves, often unknowingly, to justify our actions.
What are your true feelings?
If you think deeply and act according to your honest feelings, I believe you will naturally have fewer worries and regrets.
After all, even if someone tells you something, you ultimately make your own decisions, so you wouldn't want to make excuses later, right?
