"Seasonal deviation and global warming"
Hello.
This is Aoyagi.
Even though August is over, it still feels like summer is still going on.
I'm already sweating from my morning commute, and there are days when I have to turn on the air conditioner even at night.
"Even though the calendar says it's autumn, it feels like midsummer" -- days like this have become commonplace in recent years.
I was curious and looked into it, and according to data from the Japan Meteorological Agency, the average temperature in the summer of 2025 (June to August) will be 1.76°C higher than the 30-year average from 1991 to 2020, setting a new record high.
Furthermore, July alone was 2.8°C higher than average, making it one of the hottest months ever recorded.
In the past, 30 degrees Celsius felt hot enough, but now it is common for temperatures to reach 35 degrees Celsius or higher, known as "extremely hot days."
On the other hand, it seems like the "just right" seasons of spring and autumn are getting shorter every year.
In fact, if you look at the weather forecast for September this year, there are still many days with temperatures exceeding 30°C.
Physically, it feels more like "summer is being extended" rather than "autumn has arrived."
T-shirts are still going to be popular.
This difference in the seasons is also a sign of global warming.
If this trend continues, the sense of spring and autumn may become even weaker, and we may enter an era where only summer and winter last for a long time.
It's a little sad to imagine a future where the time we have to enjoy autumn leaves and cherry blossom viewing will become even shorter.
Perhaps in the future, autumn foliage and cherry blossom viewing spots will require a fee, and tickets will become a premium item.
You cannot change the seasons, temperature, or weather.
That's why I want to think about how to accept and enjoy this change in my own way.
How can we come up with creative ways to cope with the long-lasting summer heat?
And how can we make the most of the shortened spring and autumn?
How will you change as you spend each day interacting with nature?
I love new experiences and the unknown, so I want to spend each day enjoying the changes that come with them.
