"The Nature of Tops"
Hello.
This is Aoyagi.
The other day, I had dinner with some classmates I've known for about 20 years.
When you've been together for a long time, talking about past memories becomes fun.
We laughed so much at silly, pointless stories that it refreshed my mind.
That night,
As we were talking about the past, I suddenly remembered the tops I used to play with as a child.
A top is unstable when it is stationary, but once it starts spinning, it remains stable.
I thought this trait could be applied to life as well.
People are also more stable when moving than when standing still.
When you try new things, interact with people, and keep moving forward through trial and error, you will somehow find yourself feeling more positive.
On the other hand, if you stop taking action because you think, "It's useless anyway" or "There's no point in doing it," your mental balance will be disrupted and you will gradually become unstable.
I myself have had moments where I felt that way at work.
When I was in my teens and twenties, I felt stuck and thought things like, "No matter what I do, nothing works" or "There's no point in doing anything."
Looking back, I realize that at that time nothing was going well and I wasn't trying to move forward.
But at times like that, I try to keep moving without stopping.
Just get your hands moving, meet people and talk to them, and when an idea comes to mind, take action right away.
Then, I felt a strange shift in the flow of things.
The same goes for my beloved skateboard; the more you move, the more stable it becomes.
The faster you go, the more stable it becomes and the more comfortable it feels to ride.
It really hurts when you fall though (lol).
Just as a top needs energy to keep spinning, I think people can maintain their center by continuing to take action.
So, keep moving without stopping.
The more things don't go well, the more I try to take action.
When you don't feel like it, try to force yourself to take action.
I think that ultimately leads to the greatest stability.
The top falls over the moment it stops.
I'm sure people are the same.
I'm going to keep going at full speed today too!
