"I'm looking, but I'm not seeing."

Hello.
Aoyagi here.

The title sounds like a riddle, but I'm writing this seriously. (laughs)
Please bear with me this week too.

Now, to the main topic.

What I want to write about this time is encapsulated in a conversation between Sherlock Holmes and Watson.

=====

Holmes: "You've often seen the seventeen steps which lead from the hall to this room."

Watson: "Often."

Holmes: "How often?"

Watson: "Well, some hundreds of times."

Holmes: "Then how many are there?"

Watson: "How many? I don't know."

Holmes: "Quite so! You have not observed. And yet you have seen. That is just my point. Now, I know that there are seventeen steps, because I have not only seen but observed."

=====

This year, one of the things I've been focusing on is "increasing resolution."

I felt that this conversation between Sherlock Holmes and Watson perfectly encapsulates that idea.

I saw the material.
I heard the explanation.
I thought I understood.

But perhaps it was just "looking at it" with low resolution.

Let's look at it with slightly higher resolution.

The meaning of numbers.
The unspoken message.
The other person's intention.

By looking just one step deeper, the number of things you can notice increases surprisingly.

There must be something you haven't noticed yet, even among the things you've seen until today.

Just by being aware, I believe you will surely find new insights and discoveries.
