"Other respect"

Hello.
This is Aoyagi.

There was a line in a book I read recently that really stuck with me.

That is " respect for others"

The term "self-esteem" that we often hear about refers to the feeling that one has value and values oneself.

Speaking of myself, there was a time when I had a lot of negative thoughts, and in order to get out of that situation, I made it a priority to have self-esteem.

On the other hand, "respect for others" is the feeling of respecting and honoring everyone other than yourself in the same way.

It sounded like the words of the author of the book I was reading, and although I had never heard them before, I was able to understand their meaning easily.

The book also said the following:

"Increasing self-esteem also increases the esteem of others.
It is not good to have only one of them being high.
Both self-deprecation and arrogance are equally unbalanced.
And self-respect and respect for others must always be at the same level. "

I thought, "I see," and somehow it made sense to me.

My theme is always "understanding the other person 100%."

I try to imagine what people I meet on the street or convenience store clerks are thinking, not just my family and friends.

But I feel like that leans somewhat towards "analysis."

If we add the perspective of "respect for others," I think it becomes a simpler attitude of "respecting that person."

Thinking about it this way might change the way I interact with people from now on.

Respect yourself and respect others.

Balance them at the same height, not just one side.

Having come across these words, I decided to re-examine the small things in my attitude and mindset in my daily life.
