"A sense of rhythm is part of everyday life"

Hello.
This is Aoyagi.

Before I get into the main topic, I'd like to thank everyone who commented on my column!

I had completely missed it until now.
I'm very sorry!
m(_ _)m

I have responded to each of the comments posted so far.
I'll be sure to check it out in the future, so please feel free to comment if you have any questions!

Now, to the main topic.

I was reading an article in an online media outlet that I regularly visit, and it suddenly occurred to me.

The article was roughly as follows:

=====

"People like restaurant owners who are constantly on the move from morning to night, editors who are constantly pressed for deadlines and on-site work, and Self-Defense Force commanders carry out their daily lives with incredible determination and self-control.

No matter how busy he is or how crazy his schedule is, once he decides to do something, he just carries it out.
Moreover, it even looks like he's enjoying this state..."

=====

I read this article and somehow I agree.

Then something else that suddenly came to mind was the idea of a sense of rhythm.

Right now, we are in the run up to the exhibition, so our work is quite busy.

Also, during busy times of the year, which come several times a year, I think like this.

"My BPM is a little fast right now."

The concept of "BPM (Beats Per Minute)" is often used in music, and I think it can be applied directly to everyday life as well.

I'm busy, I'm hectic, and my mind is working at full speed.

Even at times like that, if I can think, "This is a time when the rhythm is fast," I feel a little better.

During busy times, it's rhythmic like "house music."

You may be busy with work or have a packed schedule.

At times like that, it's more like house or techno at around 130 BPM.

It feels hectic, with one thing after another unfolding at a good pace.

But when it comes to music, fast doesn't necessarily mean bad, right?

Rather, it is a time when things get exciting and tension rises.

I'm in that same period right now.

My work schedule is packed and I have a lot to do.

But when I think, "I'm in a high BPM house mode right now," I somehow start to feel a little happy.

When I'm feeling even crazier, I go into heavy metal or punk mode. (laughs)

Relaxed, downtempo days

On the other hand, when things are quiet at work or on my mornings off, I listen to chill hip hop at around 80 BPM, or slower tempos like jazz or bossa nova.

Brew some coffee and play some music to match the relaxing rhythm.

Of course, days like that are necessary, and they are an important time to clear your mind.

If you look at the current rhythm in the overall BPM of your life, it's just a part

Our current busy rhythm may just be a coincidence that things are getting faster over the long term.

Music doesn't stay fast forever, and it doesn't stay slow forever.

There is a development, a break, and a climax.

It is because of this flow that the song works as a whole.

That's why, if you think of this current hectic situation as just "in the middle of a song," you might actually find it enjoyable.

Not "busy" but "in rhythm"

Recently, rather than simply saying "I'm busy," I've started telling myself things like, "The BPM is a little faster right now (laughs)."

Just by capturing your feelings in a musical way like this, you will strangely feel lighter, and even if you are busy, you will be able to enjoy it as your own current rhythm.

lastly

I believe that a sense of rhythm is not just something that occurs in dance or music, but is also present in everyday life.

Whether I'm busy or having a relaxed day, I just go through life at the BPM that suits me at the time.

If we're going to spend the same amount of time anyway, I think it's better to enjoy the rhythm of the present to the fullest.

Anyway, my current goal is to enjoy life to the fullest!

I don't dislike music, and I think it's good to enjoy a variety of rhythms, so when I applied that to my daily life, my life became more enjoyable (laughs).
