Two sides of the same coin

Hello.
This is Aoyagi.

The other day, while having dinner with a friend, we had this conversation:

"Pineapple normally goes in sweet and sour pork, right?"
"You normally put lemon on fried chicken, right?"


What's normal for one person might not be normal for another.

The theme of this column is "Two Sides of the Same Coin."





If you say you like something, some people will get excited and say, "I totally get it!", while others might react with, "Huh? I don't get it at all."


Speaking of my past, I got married and had a child when I was 23.


Back then, I often heard the phrase, "Why don't you just work normally?"


Looking back now, I wonder whose standard that "normal" was. It's a good experience and a good memory now.
At the time, I was so stressed that it honestly hurt quite a bit every time I heard it. (lol)



What one person finds "strange" can be "charming" to another.


"Will I be rejected if I say this...?"


Instead of thinking that way, I think it's better to confidently express what you like and dislike. Then, we won't have to force ourselves to get along, and we can be more comfortable with each other.
Even if some people drift away, there will surely be others who truly empathize and share your passion.

That, too, is two sides of the same coin.



...By the way, I'm in the camp that doesn't put pineapple in sweet and sour pork, and I do put lemon on fried chicken.
