JUTA SASAKI -playlist-

This is a playlist compiled from songs I listened to while working over the past five years.


Just like my work tools or my favorite restaurants, once I like something, I tend to use/visit it repeatedly. So, this playlist is a collection of tracks, one from each album that I've played on a loop countless times.


I love clear contrasts and unexpected GAPs, so I've included:

Electronic sounds and live instruments,
Slow and fast,
US and EU,
Classics and up-and-coming artists,
West and East…

There's no particular consistency; I've tried to create a mix-tape-like layout.


When I'm "digging" for things, I often imagine "unaju" (eel served over rice in a lacquered box).

The more lavish the eel, the more I want to explore every corner of the box, and by delving deeper into those corners, I can re-appreciate the main eel's brilliance.

And when I look at it from a slightly broader perspective, I might notice the pattern on the bowl... HIP-HOP is just like unaju, isn't it?


Speaking of eel, are you familiar with the rakugo story about a stingy man who eats his rice, savoring the delicious smell wafting from an eel restaurant, and then the owner demands he pay for the "smell"?

The stingy man doesn't pay for the smell.

He jingles his money, making a "chaling" sound, and pays with the sound.

JUTA SASAKI

An illustrator from Akita Prefecture.
Influenced by the film "8 Mile," he went to the US alone in 2011 to study abroad.
After returning to Japan, he started creating illustrations and silk screen printing in 2013.

In recent years, under the name "YARDO," he has handled graphics for a wide range of clients including domestic and international companies/organizations, musicians, and restaurants.
