About APPLEBUM T-shirts
Hello.
I'm Toyohara, a staff member at APPLEBUM.
Today, I'd like to introduce APPLEBUM's T-shirts.
I suddenly wondered,
"T-shirts have been around for as long as I can remember, but when did they actually originate?"
I wear them almost every day without much thought, but I actually don't know their roots.
■ The History of T-shirts
The history of T-shirts is said to be just a little over 100 years.
Originally, T-shirts were born out of a need on battlefields and in the military, serving as "underwear."
T-shirts, which were not meant to be seen in public, underwent a major turning point in the 1950s, influenced by Hollywood movies in America.
Once they began to attract attention as "a symbol of rebellion," T-shirts changed the world's perception, becoming clothing that could be worn outside on their own.
After that, T-shirts became ingrained in the public consciousness, closely intertwined with social issues, serving as political statements, corporate advertisements, for sports events and school activities, and even as canvases for art.
Thus, T-shirts have continued to be worn with the changing times and, despite being "something that touches the skin directly," have evolved into a leading item of clothing in their own right.
■ "Ease" has driven the evolution of clothing
When tracing the evolution of modern clothing, it seems that values such as "it's easy" and "it's rational" have had a significant influence.
Or perhaps there's also the need to "hide one's body shape."
Especially in recent years in Japan, with the added factor of hot weather and temperatures, there seems to be a growing inclination towards "relaxed silhouettes."
■ APPLEBUM T-shirts
As a streetwear brand, APPLEBUM's T-shirts have also evolved over the past few years.
Our goal was to create:
"A tough T-shirt with substantial thickness and firmness that won't lose its shape even after long wear."
To embody this concept, we particularly focused on the following two points:
・Selection of fabric
・APPLEBUM's unique silhouette design
■ About the fabric
The fabric is made from 100% cotton, meticulously knitted with 16-count "double yarn."
This "double yarn" is made by twisting two strands of yarn together to form a single thread.
By knitting with two thin threads, the fabric becomes stronger and finer-grained compared to fabrics knitted with ordinary single threads.

Of course, single yarn is not inferior; it's simply a matter of "preference."
At APPLEBUM, we prioritize "softness" and "suppleness" over a "rough feel," which led us to adopt this fabric.
As a result, we have created a T-shirt that combines a soft feel with high durability.

APPLEBUM's Ultra Heavyweight T-shirts are 12oz (ounces).
The "oz (ounce)" for T-shirts refers to the weight of the fabric, not its thickness.
However, it currently serves as an indicator of fabric thickness, meaning that higher numbers indicate thicker and heavier fabric.
While typical T-shirts are 4-5 ounces, and anything over 7 ounces is considered heavyweight, APPLEBUM's 12-ounce T-shirts are classified as ultra-heavyweight.

■ About the Silhouette
While keeping trends in mind, we designed it with a moderate amount of room in the shoulders, body, and armholes, providing a relaxed and comfortable fit.
On the other hand, the length is set slightly shorter, pursuing APPLEBUM's unique sense of balance.
By creating a wide body, excess fabric drapes smoothly from the shoulders, creating natural expressions with movement—resulting in a sophisticated box silhouette that allows you to enjoy a refined atmosphere.
■ Size Comparison
I believe that "sizing" is an important factor when wearing T-shirts.
I, Toyohara, a slim staff member at 168cm tall, 55kg, with 46cm shoulders, tried on sizes from S to XXL.
I hope this helps you find your preferred fit.
(By the way, I usually choose M, L, or XL sizes.)

How was it?
For going out, on a date, or for relaxing at home—
we all want to wear our favorite items at any time.
Recently, "office casual" where T-shirts are worn as an inner layer under suit jackets is gradually spreading.
It's an era where T-shirts are acceptable for work if they project a clean and refined style.
When I wear my favorite T-shirt,
conversations with friends and acquaintances often become lively, with comments like, "What T-shirt is that?!" or "Oh, that's a reference to XX!"
APPLEBUM's graphic T-shirts are not just for wearing;
they can also be a small catalyst for everyday communication.
They are perfect companions for going out.
Please try APPLEBUM's T-shirts, filled with our dedication, at least once.
