This time, we will introduce APPLEBUM T-shirts.
I suddenly thought.
"T-shirts have been a part of my life since I was born, but when did they come into existence?"
We wear it every day without thinking about it, but we may not know its origins.
■The history of T-shirts
The history of the T-shirt is said to be just over 100 years old.
It seems that it originally came into existence as underwear to meet the needs of those on the battlefield and in the military.
T-shirts, which were not something to be shown in public, underwent a major transformation in the 1950s with the influence of American Hollywood movies.
Once T-shirts began to gain attention as a symbol of rebellion, they began to change the world's perception of them as a piece of clothing that could be worn alone outside.
After that, it became popular among the masses, being closely connected to social issues, being used in political campaigns, corporate advertisements, sporting events, school events, and even as an art canvas.
Thus, T-shirts have continued to be worn over the years as the times have changed, and despite being something that "comes into direct contact with the skin," they have evolved into a respectable staple item of clothing.
■ “Easy” has driven the evolution of clothing
When we look at the evolution of modern clothing, it seems that values such as "it's comfortable" and "it's rational" have had a major influence.
Or perhaps there is a need to "hide one's body shape."
Especially in Japan in recent years, coupled with the hot climate and temperatures, it seems there has been a growing trend towards "relaxed silhouettes."
■ APPLEBUM T-shirt
As a streetwear brand, APPLEBUM's T-shirts have evolved over the past few years.
What we aimed for was
"A tough T-shirt with a firm thickness and firmness that will not wear out even after long wear."
To realize this concept, we paid particular attention to the following two points.

■About the fabric
The fabric is made of 100% cotton and is carefully knitted with 16 count double yarn.
This "double thread" is made by twisting two threads together to form one thread.
By knitting using two thin threads, the fabric is stronger and has a finer texture than fabric knitted with a typical single thread (one thread).
Of course, this doesn't mean that single yarn is inferior; it's simply a matter of preference.
At APPLEBUM, we chose this fabric because we value its softness and suppleness over its rough texture.
The result is a T-shirt that is both soft to the touch and highly durable .
APPLEBUM's Ultra Heavyweight T-shirt is 12oz (ounces).
The "oz" of a T-shirt refers to the weight, not the thickness of the fabric.
However, currently it is used as an indicator of fabric thickness, and the higher the number, the thicker and heavier the fabric.
A typical T-shirt is 4 to 5 ounces, and anything over 7 ounces is considered heavyweight, so APPLEBUM's 12 ounces is in the ultra-thick category.
■ About the silhouette
Taking into account the latest trends, the shoulders, chest and armholes are designed with just the right amount of room for a relaxed fit .
On the other hand, the length is set slightly shorter to achieve the unique balance that is characteristic of APPLEBUM.
The wide body allows excess fabric to fall straight down from the shoulders, creating a natural look as you move - a boxy silhouette that gives off a sophisticated vibe .
■ Size comparison
I think that the "size" is an important factor when wearing a T-shirt.
Our slim staff member, Toyohara, is 168cm tall, weighs 55kg, and has a shoulder width of 46cm. He tried out sizes S to XXL.
