Eric Coleman

Hello.
I'm Toyohara, a staff member.

Are there any album covers or artist photos that you have a special attachment to?
I'm sure you've had the experience of just looking at a photo and instantly recalling the sounds and atmosphere you were hearing at the time.

However, the photographers who take the photos that open these "doors to memory" rarely receive the spotlight.

There is a saying that goes, "The unsung hero," and I believe that it is only a photographer who has built a deep relationship of trust with an artist that can create a photograph that brings out the artist's individuality to the fullest.

This happened a few months ago.
There was a photo that was passed around the company with people asking, "Do you know this photo?"
I still remember the moment I saw it, I thought, "MF DOOM! That's awesome!"

The photographer who took this photo is Eric Coleman , who has captured the hip-hop scene on the West Coast of the United States.

Eric Coleman is a photographer born in Los Angeles.
In 1997, he founded the video production company Mochilla together with B+.
He worked as a cinematographer on the documentary "Keepintime" and Banksy's "Exit Through the Gift Shop."
He has also photographed many of Stones Throw Records' most iconic artists, including J Dilla and NxWorries (Anderson .Paak + Knxwledge).
It continues to be at the forefront of culture today.

A capsule collection using his archive photographs will be released on Saturday, August 23rd.

My favorite in the collection

The artists featured in this collection are:
・MF DOOM
・Kamasi Washington
・Madvillain / MF DOOM × Madlib
・J Dilla

Among them, my personal favorite is the "Eric Coleman" L/S Shirt-MV2.

This is a bold design that uses the negative numbers and film frames of the photographs as patterns.

If you look closely at each photo, you will see that
During a break in the production of the album, DOOM and Eric Coleman decided to take a photo together, and in this photo DOOM comes out onto the decks carrying a heavy SP-1200, as if to say, "This is who I am."

A moment where childlike innocence and the coolness that symbolizes hip-hop coexisted.
A number of photographs that capture this atmosphere have been directly incorporated into the shirts.

It may look flashy, but when you actually wear it, it actually fits surprisingly well.

If you wear it under a jacket, you could even wear it to a wedding reception (lol).
It would also go well with a beige suit.
If someone responds to this shirt, you might become good friends.

On sale from Saturday, August 23rd

Of course, in addition to this L/S shirt, there is a dope collection filled with items that suit the lifestyle of music lovers.

Photographs are another gateway to connecting musical memories.
Please try incorporating the moments captured through Eric Coleman's lens into your daily life.

Don't miss out on this special collaboration.
